Nothing revolutionary but works somehow by fred from Massachusetts, age 38, who has been using Dermenodex Thinning Hair Scalp Treatment for 4 months: I have been testing Dermenodex thinning hair scalp treatment for four months, having read quite a few positive reviews of it on the Internet. I used minoxidil before I started with Dermenodex and have not seen any positive or negative effects after the transition from one to the other. Dermenodex alone...

The main existing approaches to combating hair loss include a) antiandrogen treatment, which addresses the leading cause of hereditary baldness – dihydrotestosterone’s (DHT) negative effects on hair follicles and b) promoting new hair growth with hair growth stimulants. Hereditary hair loss in both men and women is caused by DHT attacking our hair follicles, leading to their miniaturisation and eventual death. Propecia (generic name finasteride)...

Given the current medicinal options, it is not possible to reverse the colour of your grey hair naturally. Although there are a number of products that derive their anti-grey hair effects from Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine or homeopathy, all of them have one thing in common and that is they are not effective for the great majority of grey hair sufferers and were made to earn money for their originators rather than to reverse grey hair....

Dutasteride (trade name Avodart) is a dual, 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. 5-alpha reductase is an enzyme present in the human body, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT has been found to be the main cause of hair loss, known as male pattern baldness. Dutasteride belongs to the same group of drugs as finasteride (the main active ingredient of Propecia) but it is a dual, 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, so that it inhibits both...

Works naturally By Kai from Germany, age 39, who has been using Re-Nature for two years: I had never been very much worried about my grey hair despite my young age and had never tried any hair colouring product. It was my wife who decided I should try Re-Nature. To my great dismay my grey hair colour was not affected at all after the first application. But then on the next day we started noticing the change as my grey hair began regaining its original...

Don’t touch it By Stewart from London, age 47, who has been using Fabao 101 for six months: Years back I used this product for about six months. What a stupid mistake it was! Do not dare to touch it. It smells badly, it makes your hair shed terribly and it won’t ever grow you a single new hair.  Read More →

Bimatoprost, the main active ingredient of Allergan, a medication used to reduce intraocular pressure and thus control glaucoma, has been recently approved by the FDA for lengthening eyelashes. This new cosmetic formulation of bimatoprost is sold as Latisse. It is not uncommon that a drug’s unexpected side effects are utilised to treat other conditions, for which it was not developed. Both FDA-approved medications for treating hair loss were originally...

Shou Wu worked wonders for me! By Susanna from California, age 40, who has been using Shou Wu for five years: It is amazing! I have tried Nioxin hair products, which worked for the first 1-2 years. When I was at the end of my rope, my uncle suggested Shou Wu. He has been using and had seen a significant difference. I tried it, taking as suggested and within 3 months my hairdresser was asking me, “what are you doing different? there’s...

Expensive minoxidil brand By Terry from the US, age 44, who has been using Min New York Agent for five months: At $36 a month, this product is an overpriced version of generic minoxidil. I used it for five months but am unable to judge if it was any better than the generic mixture containing minoxidil and azelaic acid I am using today. I understand that Min New York Agent is a more complex formula than most other minoxidil-based products but I am...

A shortage of catalase, a common enzyme found in nearly all living organisms, has been recently found to be the main culprit in causing grey hair. The role of this enzyme is to catalyse the conversion of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. According to the latest scientific discovery, grey hair is caused by the build-up of hydrogen peroxide, the chemical women use to dye their hair blonde, in hair follicles. A normal healthy follicle produces...
