Doc, It’s hot and humid outside! what’s the best way to store your generic finasteride in these hot months? I keep it in a drawer away from light and try to keep my non AC room as cool as possible. Thanks a lot! I would say store it in the bottle it comes in, and only cut one 5mg pill at a time. The situation you describe sounds reasonable for many people. It sounds like you’re doing the right thing in terms of medication storage. I doubt there would be any

Do you believe there is a link between lack of sunlight and the speed of mpb? I’m not talking about synthetic vitamin d supplements here. Is the FDA Not Investigating Male Breast Cancer and Finasteride Links?
Dear Drs, What’s the incidence been of people using finasrteride to treat hair loss getting male breast cancer? I heard it’s high and that the FDA is not investigating it. For people not wanting to take oral medication for hair loss, is there any other “gold standard” approach? Like minoxidil with alzeic acid or the like…...
My Generic Finasteride Pills are Too Small to Cut!
I just switched from Propecia to generic Proscar (cut into fourths). The pills I am cutting are extremely small, and thus difficult to cut! Always be sure consult your pharmacist about the size of generic Proscar before filling your script! Consulting your pharmacist about the size of the pill is great advice. Let the pharmacist know that you’re...
I Forgot To Bring Propecia Before My Trip — How Can I Make This Last?

I have only got three pills untill I return home in three weeks, and my question is this: How can I make the best out of the situation? Should I take one pill a week, or would it be better...
Alcohol and Finasteride?
Hi doc, First I appreciate you on providing expert level suggestions to people all around the world. I think it is really helpful for many patients. I am on Finax (Dr Reddys) for the past month taking daily 1mg at night. I have two questions: 1. I am very much tempted to take alcohol on weekend nights and skip the pills for those days to be on the...
Can Propecia Results Improve During the 2nd Year?
Hey doc, I am 13 months in on propecia and my hair is a little worse than when I started. I have read that best results occur at 18-24 months. So have you ever had anyone who was unhappy with their results after 1 year on propecia, but the results improved during year 2? I can’t recall such a situation with one of my patients, but we do know...

Did Finasteride Make Me Stutter?
Hi Dr. Rassman, I want to start off by thanking you for acknowledging and attempting to help people in what can be such a stressful and consuming problem for people. My question is in regards to the possible mental side effects of finasteride. I understand that you have touched on this in the past, but I was wondering if you could say based on your...
After Taking Propecia for Years, Should I Up the Dosage?
Hi Doc. Right know I’m on Propecia for 3 years, but I’m noticing some thinning in the frontal area. Would it be effective to start to take 2 mg a day? Thank you. Increasing the medication dosage will not necessarily slow down or help stop the hair loss process. Propecia is a good medication, but it is not the magic bullet. It does not...
Shedding After Switching from 1mg to 1.25mg Finasteride
It seems like you have prescribed 1.25 mg of Finasteride (Proscar cut in fourths) to many people who were previously taking 1 mg Propecia. Have any of these people expressed concerns of temporary increased shedding after this switch? Do you believe that its possible that such a small increase in Finasteride could be the cause of increased shedding?...
