Hair Loss from Allergic Reaction to Hair Product?

May 14th, 2010 admin

My daughter use a mousse hair product that she used for several years and had an allergic reaction. Her forehead, neck, scalp and eyelids peeled. A few weeks later she notices her hair falling out. She went to the derm and he prescribed topical treatments. They said it would take a few weeks to see results and less hair falling out because of the severe seborrea? Severe Histamine Reaction to Hair Transplant
Dear Dr. Rassman, I was reading through your blog with regards to histamine positive scalp. (Which I have). My question has to do with autoimmune response and hair transplants. I have a very over-active auto-immune response to some things, especially poison ivy/oak. Several years ago (2006, age 50 at the time) I had a transplant done. Top-flight...
Could I Have Hair Loss from Two Different Factors at the Same Time?
I am a male in my late 20’s, I’ve had hair loss for about 3 years. Went to a DR in the city in March and he prescribed Finasteride and Minoxidil. After about a month, I started seeing GREAT results, hair became stronger and stopped falling out and began growing again! Then 2 or 3 weeks ago, I started shedding again like crazy and it has...
What If I’m Allergic to an Ingredient in Minoxidil?
Dr. Rassman, Thanks again for maintaining this blog. I have asked a number of questions before and appreciate your prompt responses. I have a few questions about minoxidil and propecia. Here they are: I have been using minoxidil (liquid solution) for almost a year. A couple of months back it really started to irritate my scalp. I am almost convinced...
(Poly) Re-Nature Consumer Review
ReNature – works for me by GreyHunk from Hungary, age 43, who has been using Re-Nature for 3 months by now: After trying various hair-dye products, I found that I am allergic to PPD, the component used in most darker shade hair-dyes. As I also like my short beard, even the slightest allergic reaction or irritation renders a product unusable...
Grey Hair or Allergy?
Hair colouring products are thought to pose one of the biggest risks of serious allergic reaction of all categories of consumer products. In addition to containing components that can trigger allergies, all of these products are poisonous should they be digested. PPD (p-phenylenediamine) is one of the most common active ingredients in conventional...
Could Minoxidil and Finasteride Benefit the Same Follicles?
Dr Rassman, My question is: does finasteride play any role in maintaining minoxidil dose-dependent hair? I got started on 5% minoxidil topical in early Feb, 2009. My derm prescribed Finasteride oral 1mg/day too, but I did not pursue that medication due to the usual side-effects related concerns. There was an initial minox-induced shed: not a massive...

Alternative Topical Hair Loss Treatments to Rogaine
While Rogaine (minoxidil) is the most effective and only proven topical hair loss treatment on the market today, there are several alternative topical treatments worth considering adding to your treatment regimen.
