Can’t I Have Body Hair Transplanted to Scalp If I Don’t Intend My Hair to Be Long?
April 5th, 2010 admin
Hi am 30 years old with a norwood 6 level of baldness. I currently shave my hair with a razor. As i have an extremely large amount of body hair and i guess limited donour hair on my head, is body to head transplant possible? Would it be possible for the transplant to cover the crown as well as the front of the head? What is meant by resting phase for hair and how does that vary from the head and the body? I

Hello Dr. Rassman. I got a ht done just under 6 months ago and i’ve noticed that the crown has shown little to no growth while the top front half of my head has shown a significant amount of growth. Could it possibly be the crown is the last place that sees the new hair growth?? the difference between the front and crown is very drastic and...
Hey Dr. Rassman, I must tell you that your blog has become an important part of my daily routine and can not thank you enough for your continual work on it. I know you probably have your reserves about this head tattoo procedure, but how about getting it done just on the scars from a HT procedure, it seems like a great way to cover up scars for people...
I am an African American male age 46 with a keloid on the back of my head which resulted from two surgeries to remove it. Now I have a keloid the size of a strawberry which leaves a bald patch in my hair. Can a hair transplant or hair patch be put in that area to cover it for good? If so will it cause more problems in the future or no? I often see...
Hi Dr. Rassman. Here is my question. I don’t mind having my hair buzzed or very very short. I don’t need to have flowing locks of hair, so long as there is a shadow/stubble on my head. Do you think that using body hair in conjunction with nape and head hair from the permanent zone could be transplanted onto my head in the design of a...
Hi I have read about Body Hair Transplants and I do see that it is not recommended. I was wondering though, would it be a feasible thing to have it used in conjunction with scalp transplants, kind of a topping it up for density? As you’re familiar with my issues with body hair transplants (BHT) due to differences in growth cycle, length, and...
I’m sure that this question has been asked many times but are body hair and baldness related? My dad suffers from MPB and he inherited it from his maternal grandfather. He first noticed a receding hairline at 16. My dad also has a lot of body hair and matured quite early. I’ve been told that I carry a lot of my mother’s genes but...
Hi Doc, I am 27, and stupidly got two procedures (~800 grafts each) done about three years ago. Have been taking propecia since the age of 18 and just started on rogaine a few months ago. I guess I’m about a Norwood 3, moving towards a 4 (except no thinning on crown). Anyway, the problem is that the transplanted hairs came in much thicker and...
I have a question regarding rogaine. I have thinning in the crown and front of the head too. I have read that rogaine can be beneficial for retarding additional hair loss anywhere there is hair. Thus, I split the 1 ml dose throughout my scalp rather than just concentrating it on the crown. Would this stop the effectiveness of rogaine? I suppose...
Hi Doc! During my teenage years, I used to completely shave my head (0 mm) during the summers. I quickly changed my mind each time due to my flat head shape that bothered me. At age 28, I’ve been experiencing a slow hair loss progression in a class 4A-pattern for some years, still fairly invisible to others I hope. This made me shave my head...
As the vertex eats up so many grafts, why do Dr.s try to transplant without the swirl and simply part the hair. The direction of the top could be forward and the lower half downward. I believe many men would give up the swirl for more coverage, is this possible? You are correct. The vertex (crown) ‘eats up’ many grafts. In other words,...
