Transplanting Hair to Cover a Scalp Keloid?
I am an African American male age 46 with a keloid on the back of my head which resulted from two surgeries to remove it. Now I have a keloid the size of a strawberry which leaves a bald patch in my hair. Can a hair transplant or hair patch be put in that area to cover it for good? If so will it cause more problems in the future or no? I often see...
Transplanting Hair Into a Cleft Lip Scar, Follow-Up
This is a follow-up to a post last week, Transplanting Hair Into a Cleft Lip Scar : Hi Dr. Rassman, this is a continuation from the cleft lip question. I forgot to add, the failed surgery was due to laser surgery. It became a hypertrophic scar after the laser surgery. So not sure if hair transplant is possible for that?? thanks for answer the question...
Does a Hairline Shift When Closing a Strip Procedure?
Hi, doc. I’ve been researching hair-transplantation, and I have a question concerning F.U.T. (strip-harvesting): I understand, in this method, a strip is excised from the back of the scalp, the wound then closed. I wonder, then, is not the overall surface of the scalp reduced in this procedure? After two or three procedures, especially, (or...
Reversing Laser Hair Removal?
My girlfriend has been going through laser treatments for removing pubic hair before she met me. she has gone through four treatments (she was supposed to do 12)and I convinced her to stop because to me lack of pubic hair seems completely unnatural. since she has stopped I noticed some slight regrowth but it is in strange patches and not even. Has...
Using Body Hair With Scalp Hair for Transplanting?
Hi I have read about Body Hair Transplants and I do see that it is not recommended. I was wondering though, would it be a feasible thing to have it used in conjunction with scalp transplants, kind of a topping it up for density? As you’re familiar with my issues with body hair transplants (BHT) due to differences in growth cycle, length, and...

Can Scalp Stretching Exercises Aid in Scar Revision?
Can scalp stretching exercises add enough laxity to the scalp to aid in scar revision surgery? Yes! Scalp stretching exercises help loosen tight scalps and I recommend this maneuver to many hair transplant and repair patients. However, in the case of an individual who has undergone one or more follicular unit harvests from  Read More →
Transplanting Grey Hair
It is a common misconception to believe that grey hair cannot be transplanted. But contrary to this widespread belief, grey or white hair can be transplanted as successfully as normal, pigmented hair. Grey hair is normal healthy hair and has been observed to be even more resistant to external factors than hair of original colour. It is also courser...
In the News – Scalp Cooler for Chemo Treatments
Snippet from the article: The machines work by lowering the temperature of the head and scalp by a few degrees before, during and after chemotherapy. This reduction in scalp temperature restricts the amount of blood reaching the hair follicles protecting them from the effects of chemotherapy drugs in the bloodstream, meaning that hair loss is not...
Latisse on the Scalp? (Video)
Dr uses Latisse on scalp. Here is the youtube link I’d consider this as human experimentation and there is no evidence that Latisse (bimatoprost) grows hair on the scalp. It was FDA approved for growing longer eyelashes, but it is not approved for use on the scalp. Could it work? Possibly, but I don’t know why you’d want to be the...
