Inherited Hairline, Inherited Hair Loss?

February 26th, 2010 admin

I inherited a strange hairline characteristic from my Maternal father, one side is and always has been far higher than the other, however it skipped his son. Does this mean I will have the same pattern of hair loss as my grandfather? I ask because everyone in the family except for his son (my uncle) has a pretty good head of hair. Should one even consider uncles and great uncles when looking at their family tree in terms of hair loss or is that too far off? These may … [ visit site to read more ]

I’m 18 Years Old and I Wonder If My Hairline is Maturing
Dear DR, I’m a 18 year old Caucasian male. A few months ago I noticed that my hairline looks like its receding although I’m not totally sure if its just a maturing hairline or balding hairline. I have always had quite a high hairline and my right side is slightly higher than the left side. My father has class 6 balding at 45 but didn’t...
18 Year Old with Hair Loss or Mature Hairline? (with Photos)
Dear Doc, I’m an 18 year old male and worried that my hairline’s begun to recede. I don’t have any particular family history of balding, both my grandfathers had most of their hair and so does my mother’s brother. Its only my father who is balding (he is 50 and has lost lots of his hair on the top of his head). I’ve...
Reader Experience with Latisse on Scalp
I would like to share my experience with latisse. I am 27. I am prone to balding as we have the genes in our family (father, uncle, and grandfather are bald!). However, I have not experienced any balding since I use propecia regularly (only a half a pill every day or every other day) and also use latisse on my scalp every other 2 days. My hair is...
My Hair Loss Is Fairly Stable but I Don’t Like My Hairline
Hi Doctor, I have written to you before about my hairline; I was about to make my TV debut a year ago and was a little freaked out about my hair. My hairline started maturing when I was about 15 and at age 17 all recession stopped. I had some hairs along the edge and corners of the hairline that I suspected I would lose one day. About 2yrs ago I...
Can I Avoid Hair Loss Gene Triggers?
First off I would like to say thank you for answering people’s questions on this site. I’ve learned more here on the subject of hair loss than anywhere else. I have a few questions that I would appreciate some clarification on. I’m a 17 year old white male. My family tree doesn’t have much of a history of hair loss. My father...
Biopsy Indicates MPB or Mature Hairline?
I just got the results from a scalp biopsy. My doctor had some interesting conclusions. I was wondering if I could run them by you. She said that the results from the biopsy were able to differentiate between MPB and a maturing hairline. Is that possible? She said that the biopsy did indicate MPB. I find this confusing considering I have only lost...
Is the Hairline More Sensitive to Testosterone?
Doctor reading this really scared me. Its from hairlosshelp.com This is what someone posted regarding propecia “Yes. I barely had any recession, it honestly looked like maturing of the hairline, and me having my dads hairline, it looked like thats what was happenning. Eight months in 2/3 of the front of my head fall out, I end up shedding 100+...
Juvenile Norwood 3 Hairline?
Dear Docs, Please look at the pictures in this thread at BaldingForum . I’d like to get a hair transplant shortly. How often do you come across a juvenile Norwood 3 hairline? How soon can you schedule a procedure and i’m interested to consult on proposed hairlines. I was born with a weak hairline and in my 30’s, i’d like something...
Asymmetrical Hairline After Hair Transplant (with Photos)
Hi Doctor Rassman. I had a hair transplant a few years back by a very respectable doctor, and while I’m generally quite pleased with the results, my hairline is a bit asymmetrical. How normal is it for a natural hairline to be higher on one side? Thanks! In nature, the hairlines of non-balding males are usually symmetrical, but occasionally...
My Hair Was Transplanted with Micrografts Lower than My Juvenile Hairline!
Hello Dr. Rassman, I had a couple of HT procedures in the late 90’s that placed several hundred “micrografts” and “minigrafts” into my hairline. While the result is not as bad as some of the super-pluggy transplants I’ve seen, I now know that an FUE procedure could produce much better results. The issue is that...
