He went on to explain how he kept going to the same barber time after time and, in spite of the fact that he really didn’t like his haircut, he was nervous about changing barbers. Of course, I handed him a card and told him to come see me. For him, finding a new barber was easy. But what do you do if you don’t happen …

When the holidays approach, I often get asked questions regarding appropriate tipping etiquette for your barber or stylist. Generally, for your last haircut before Christmas, it is customary to tip the normal cost of a visit. If you normally pay your barber $25, then a $25 tip would be appropriate. If you share a close personal realtionship...
Two weeks ago I decided it was past time to get my hair trimmed, as it had been approximately 2 months. I went to what I consider my “regular” place only to find that none of the barbers I have had recently were working, so, I took the first available. I did my normal routine of explaining that I had a scar and that I did not want it visible....
I decided it was time to get another haircut. Previously I had been keeping the sides and back of my hair very short- a 1 or 2 clipper guard- and, sadly, I can no longer do this so it seems to get a bit too long faster than I want. I went to my regular place only to find the gal that cut my hair last time was not working so, I waited for the next...

In a moment of boredom a few nights ago, I was flipping channels and landed on MTV’s Jersey Shore . I’ve been to the Seaside Heights, NJ on several occasions and often admire some of the intricate haircuts on the guys cruising the boardwalk. Extremely low fades, design cuts , and crisp outlining take tremendous skill for a barber to...
Rogain for women, which contains 2% minoxidil, is the only FDA-approved medication for the treatment of female hair loss today. The main reason why women should exercise caution when using minoxidil is the fact that it can induce undesired facial hair growth. However, it does not seem to be such a big problem as it does not happen too often and the...
I underwent a mega session of 2884 grafts and was worried on the 20th day as my scabs didnt fall off. So I contacted my doctor who told me to do a gentle massage. I did it but during this massage what I noticed was that there were some scabs that had hair attached to it. Does it mean I have pulled the graft even after 20 days!? I would like to clear...
Hi Dr Rassman, I have been writing to you for the last 2 years about my hair loss and contributing factors. I took your advice and had my hair looked at under a microscope by a FUE specialist in Glasgow, he confirmed that my loss was most likely due to my dermatitis and that i was not showing any signs of MPB apart from some slight recession that...
