Did Propecia Elevate My SGOT and SGPT (Liver) Levels?
February 17th, 2010 admin
Dear Dr. Rassman, I am a 32 year old male with Norwood class 3.In December beginning I had started Propecia and continued with it for 7 weeks. I experienced no apparent side effects and in fact felt more energetic. There was no initial hair loss and at end of 3 weeks my hair felt fuller and it seemed that there was a decrease in hair loss ( lose fewer while combing/shampooing ). During the 7th week a test revealed some of liver function indicators were elevated: … [ visit site to read more ]

Thank you Dr. Rassman for maintaining a wonderful blog and for being a generally nice guy. My history is a bit checkered: Seven Years ago I was told by Dr. Bernstein (another really nice guy by the way) that based on family history I might have diffuse pattern alopecia although only the vertex was thinning. He put me on Propecia and refused to operate...
Hi, Before started propecia my dht levels were normal, now after 7 months i had great results but my dht levels are 5 times higher. have any of your patients reported this? or do you know anyone who happened this? I think it could be a reaction of my body, everyone said to me to never take propecia again, but i’m really worried about my hair...
Dear Dr. Rassman, Could you talk a little bit more about what you see over long-term with results with Propecia? Let’s start with the assumption that nine of 10 patients will have not lose hair from baseline at year 5. At year 10, what percentage of patients would you say have a very noticeable decrease in hair, what percentage have a modest...
I am currently a 27 year old male who has been taking the following medications for hair loss. 1) Rogaine (5%) for 3 years 2) Propecia for 1 year 3) Nizoral (2%) for 3 years 4) Olux Foam 8 months My hair loss had began to slow down for several months but as of recent it has increased dramatically and I had a blood screen. It showed that my testosterone...
This question comes from a series of general concerns on the Hair Restoration Discussion Forums: Does Propecia (finasteride) cause a decrease in the body’s level of testosterone or testosterone levels in the blood? Although issues involving Propecia (finasteride) and testosterone are popular topics in general, one subject seemingly appears more...
Thanks a lot Dr. for this helpful blog site that keep us well informed about baldness. Two weeks ago, I did a HairDx test (rxr) for finasteride response. Do you think such test is accurate enough to build upon? How much it’s acurate per cent? There are two HairDX tests — one which shows if you carry the genes for balding, and one which...
Hey Doc, I have been on propecia for almost 2 years now, last summer marked my 1st full year on the drug. Last summer (late August) I missed 2 weeks of the pill and soon after realized that my crown got a bit balder. Now the crown has gotten a bit more balder – my question is, is there any way to tell whether the 2 weeks of missed dosage caused...
Dr. my hair loss started when I was 23. At that point I started researching my options. I’m now 27. My hair loss has progressed at slow pace (thank god). I tried propecia based on my research, a lot of which came from your blog. Right around the 3rd month I really felt like the loss at least stopped where it was at and if I would have kept...
Hello, Thank you once again for your blog. Now, to make a long story short: I’ve gone abroad for three weeks, and I forgot to bring enough Propecia with me. I have only got three pills untill I return home in three weeks, and my question is this: How can I make the best out of the situation? Should I take one pill a week, or would it be better...
Hi…Thanks a lot for this perfect blog that answered many questions that concerns hair loss and balding. I had a HairDX test for Finasteride response and my score of CAG was 24. The dermatologist who did the test told me that I have a negative result regarding finasteride response. 1- What do you think of Hairdx test regarding F.R.? 2- Do...
