February 9th, 2010 admin

Hi Dr Rassman, Your blog is a gift so thank you for your efforts. After reading your blog and doing a bit of research I have decided to get some guts and visit my local doctor to start Propecia. I have been on it for two weeks so far with no major side effects – so any one reading scared off by all the internet hype out there – you will just have to suck it up and give it a go. When reading your blog and looking at the Norword scale I am a little confused by my pattern, I

Propecia Review
Propecia is the only FDA-approved, oral drug for treating male pattern baldness. It appears to be the most powerful treatment currently available for treating hair loss in men. Clinical evidence largely supports this claim. The sole active ingredient of Propecia is called finasteride and it works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into follicle-...
I’ve Tried Propecia 3 Different Times and Keep Getting Side Effects
Dear Dr. Rassman, Thank you for this informative website. I visit everyday, and my wife just gave me your book for the holidays. Unfortunately, I am one of the few who have experienced side effects with Propecia. I was orginally on 1mg per day, and then I tried 1mg every other day, and .5 every day. But everytime I had to stop. Luckily, all three...
Side Effects from Hair Meds
How do you keep the hair that you have without any side effect medications? Most men have no side effects from Propecia, as the sexual side effects only occur in 1% of patients. Members of my own family take it and have no side effects, nor have they ever had them. Minoxidil has side effects of its own, including changes in blood pressure and skin...
Is Propecia Worth the Risk of Potential Side Effects?
Men considering Propecia (finasteride) as a hair loss treatment are often highly concerned about the possibility of sexual side effects. And though these side effects are reported as rare on Merck’s website, they are a very real possibility. Thus, Propecia consumers should be aware of the risks and what to do in the event they’re  Read More →

Works fine with no sides By Richard, age 36, who has been using generic Propecia for two and a half years: So far so good. I have been on generic Propecia for two and a half years, having a decent regrowth with no side effects at all. Use just 1 mg a day or less to avoid side effects.  Read More →
Cyproterone Acetate and DHT
Dr. Rassman, I know this may sound like an odd question, but, would an antiandrogen such as Cyproterone Acetate reduce the levels of DHT in the male body? Would it preserve hair in a person with very little balding. I realize there are major side effects with this drug, but am still curious. Thanks, and keep up the wonderful work, your blog is quite...
Fasting and Propecia Side Effects?
From your medical point of view, if someone had side effects from a year’s worth of Propecia, could fasting help speed up the side effects going away? I’ve read that water fasting or juice fasting accelerates recovery because energy usually spent on digestion is now used for healing and returning the body back to a baseline level. I don’t...
Can Propecia Save My Weak Hairline?
started propecia 1 month ago have a receding hairline. have lots of miniature hairs still there. will propecia help these hairs grow thicker? Each case is different, and I can’t give you a 100% guarantee that Propecia will save those hairs in your hairline. I don’t even know where your loss pattern is or how old you are. I can tell you...

Propecia and the Morning Wood
This blog is an excellent resource; I studied it extensively and used it to decide on Propecia as a course of action 3 years ago. I have a question with respect to Propecia and nocturnal erections. You mentioned in a previous post that, “the lack of morning erections is a known problem with Propecia.” Why is Propecia associated with lower...
