Zinc Deficiency and Hair Loss in Men?

January 6th, 2010 admin

Does zinc deficiency cause hair loss in men? If so, how long after taking extra zinc will the hair go bak to normal? How much extra zinc is recommended? Thank you for answering my questions. It is rare to have a zinc deficiency. Babies, people who are malnourished, and people with bowel disease are the ones that will generally have such a deficiency. Best to look up the extensive write up on zinc at

Propecia Benefits Won’t Last Forever?
Note: I believe these were from two different people, but the questions are related so I’ll answer them together… Email #1 Now doc , i have a suggestion to make just like you do.You write “Every person will eventually lose the benefits of this drug, but the open question is when” – there is no proof for this , or you do have...
Do You Think the Iron Supplement or Minoxidil Contributed to My Regrowth?
I’m a 24 year old male and have microcytic anemia (most likely) due to iron deficiency. I had been able to halt my MPB hair loss by taking finasteride (1mg) since age 18, however experienced rapid shedding about nine months ago. To stop the hair loss, I added minoxidil 5% to my regimen and started taking ferrous gluconate tablets for my anemia....
Vicodin, OxyContin, and Hair Loss
This was a comment posted in response to this old post about hydrocodone and oxycodone : It’s not very inspiring that Dr. William Rassman, Medical Director and Founder of the New Hair Institute has no idea that this med causes hair loss. Whether it’s temp or not, rare or not, it obvious DOES have the potential to cause hair loss.. I find ‘user...
I Want a Hair Transplant, But Don’t Want Propecia Anymore

Could Propecia Be Used to Treat Cardiovascular Disease?
Doctor, There is an established correlation between (early onset) androgenic alopecia and both cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer. Now interestingly, Propecia (more than likely) reduces the risk of prostate cancer. Since Propecia seems helpful against hair loss and against prostate cancer, could it also be helpful against the third correlate:...

I’ve answered this question about CellCept before and have nothing new to report since then. If it grows back it would take over a year, though it often does...
Masturbation and Hair Loss – A Different Perspective
Once and for all, in regards to thousands of emails i imagine you get, i have a question for you. I can see there is a miscommunication with the emails you receive regarding matsurbation and hairloss. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) Speeding Up Hair Growth
It is often said that you cannot speed up your hair growth but it does not seem to be absolutely true. Many people who have tried a dietary supplement called methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) for longer than two months report faster hair growth and in some of them this extra intake of organic sulphur leads to improving the thickness of their existing hair....
