Even though it’s FDA approved, most of the objective literature I find says its results are minimal, disappointing, that its window of working at all is brief etc. I noticed your NHI website doesn’t give it a good review. I’d estimate that minoxidil works very well in about 15% of patients and there’s some effect in 30% more, but the remaining patients see no benefits with respect to … [ visit site to read more ]

Shedding More After Starting Minoxidil
Dear Rassman, First of all, let me thank you for the kind of attention you give to the balding community. I have been told that I am suffering from MPB. As far as I can remember I first noticed it 6 years ago. I have used Fin and Minoxidil on and off but never more than 5-6 months and when I did, I never really paid much attention to the decline...
Is There a Good Way to Wean off of Minoxidil?
Hi Doc, I have to say, this is really nice what you’re doing in this site. My question is this… I was using minoxidil for a year and I suddenly stopped. I had hair fall immediately and now my hair is very thin. How does someone stop or taper minoxidil treatment? Currently I am on propecia medication. Do you think I’m still going...

Loniten (Oral Minoxidil) and Hair Growth?
I have a question about Loniten (oral Minoxidil). This isn’t considering using it as a replacement for topical Rogaine, but does Loniten show ANY major scalp hair growth? I know it’s an unstable blood pressure medication, but if someone who was suffering from hair loss were to take it, would it show benefits? What dosage would you...
Does Finasteride Make Things Worse If I Stop It?
Dear Drs, I’m concerned about the rebound effect of stopping finasteride. I was having a look at some website, I should stop searching about hair loss as I’ve become so lost, but one website had a comment which gave me some concerns. This is what they had to say about finasteride. Basically it means that whoever takes it and then …...

I Haven’t Consistently Used Minoxidil — Is It OK to Just Stop Completely?
I’ve been using minoxidil on and off for about 8 months now. I apply it once a day and quite often miss days or a few days. At one point I missed two weeks. I don’t think it has done much for my hair and have recently started propecia. With regards to stopping minoxidil (if you think I should), should I come off it gradually or will stopping...
