Blurred Vision from Minoxidil?
December 10th, 2009 admin
I have taken propecia and minoxidil for approximately 2 weeks (and have since stopped). I noticed blurred vision and believe it to be attributed to either the propecia or minoxidil, or both. My questions is if my blurred vision is associated with either product. will the blurring go away now that I have stopped. Please respond. I haven’t read about it occurring with finasteride, but blurred vision is a side effect from minoxidil. You might … [ visit site to read more ]

I have used minoxidil7% (2mL/day)and finasteride for 13 months with good results, including a period of shedding 10 months in. Then, suddenly, I felt burning on my scalp so discontinued minoxidil. I returned to the minoxidil after 2 months but can tolerate only 0.5mL/day). I have been back on for 3 weeks. In that time I have noticed a loss of density....
Hi Doc, I have to say, this is really nice what you’re doing in this site. My question is this… I was using minoxidil for a year and I suddenly stopped. I had hair fall immediately and now my hair is very thin. How does someone stop or taper minoxidil treatment? Currently I am on propecia medication. Do you think I’m still going...
Dear sir, When I started on finasteride I noticed a very strange but rather pleasant side-effect: an increased libido. This makes sense since finasteride raises the levels of total testosterone; it is, however, contrary to the science literature, which commonly reports DECREASED libido as a potential side-effect. Why do some men suffer a decreased...
Hi Doctor – I was using propecia (Finax 1mg) since Nov’2009 till Feb’2010, I was also using minoxidil 5% tropical solution. During Dec and Jan I experienced palpitations and Feb I felt stress around my face and chest which turned out to be high blood pressure 145/90. This did not happen for a month and then again suddenly I have...
What is your personal opinion of rogaine/minoxidil regarding its effectiveness? Even though it’s FDA approved, most of the objective literature I find says its results are minimal, disappointing, that its window of working at all is brief etc. I noticed your NHI website doesn’t give it a good review. I’d estimate that minoxidil...
I am 27 years old and I write regarding a side effect of propecia which is making me extremely nervous — to the point that I haven’t been able to sleep for many nights, and have been surfing the internet in search for answers and hope leading me to your site). I took propecia for about four weeks, and at the fourth week mark, I noticed...
How do you keep the hair that you have without any side effect medications? Most men have no side effects from Propecia, as the sexual side effects only occur in 1% of patients. Members of my own family take it and have no side effects, nor have they ever had them. Minoxidil has side effects of its own, including changes in blood pressure and skin...
Dr Rassman, My question is: does finasteride play any role in maintaining minoxidil dose-dependent hair? I got started on 5% minoxidil topical in early Feb, 2009. My derm prescribed Finasteride oral 1mg/day too, but I did not pursue that medication due to the usual side-effects related concerns. There was an initial minox-induced shed: not a massive...
Dear Dr. Rassman, I understand the debate regarding the appropriate dosage of finasteride to be taken seems to have no end. I am currently taking 2.5mg (half proscar since 3 years ago where Propecia stopped working as well), so far so good. I would not say propecia stopped responding, but more of my genetics are catching up. Anyway, by upping to...
I’ve been using minoxidil on and off for about 8 months now. I apply it once a day and quite often miss days or a few days. At one point I missed two weeks. I don’t think it has done much for my hair and have recently started propecia. With regards to stopping minoxidil (if you think I should), should I come off it gradually or will stopping...
