Propecia Expectations for Extreme Cases
December 7th, 2009 admin
A few days ago there was a post on your blog, the question was asking the effectiveness of finasteride in the time of a year, at the end of the first paragraph of your responce you talk about how effective it is in men at a young age unless they are headed for NW3 by age 23. Why is it different for men of that extreme case and what can they expect from taking finasteride? Is it pointless for them? If there was confusion, allow me to clarify. Propecia should work

Hi Doc Can a person with Kidney disorder take Propecia or can he apply Rogaine. Thanks Finasteride (Propecia) is metabolized in the liver so the presence of kidney disease is usually not a problem for taking this medication. For liver disease, finasteride could be a problem and you must check that out with your doctor. In the case of minoxidil, the...
Say one starts taking propecia once minor thinning is first noticed in a young male the age of 19-20. Say propecia reveres the minor thinning and maintain the hair until your 50s. Is it possible to get off of propecia at 50 since Androgen levels are at their highest in our 20s-30s? I’m a 20 year old male with my juvenile hairline but with very...
I have been taking propecia for a year now, I am currently twenty. Propecia has worked wonders to regrow hair all over my head, including the temples. My question is, and I know results vary, but on average do young patients that use propecia long term continue to retain the majority of their hair over the long term, ten-plus years. I know that at...
Dr. Rassman, Thank you for taking the time with this blog and the questions you have answered for me over the past year. I’m 30, I take Propecia and have been on it a year for crown thinning. I’ve gotten very good results but have a question that has been bugging me. Last year, after a month on propecia, I read

Hello Dr., A little back-story: I’ve been on generic propecia (1.25mg) for the last 9 years. I am a 32 year old male. When i started taking it, I was a Norwood 1.5. Presently, my hairline is the same and i’m still a norwood 1.5. My father is not bald. However, my maternal grandfather was. Unfortunately, for the last 2 years or so, i’ve noticed...
Dear doc, i have been using Propecia since one month. I have not experienced any sides yet. I would appreciate if you could clarify my following doubts. If a person has acidity, does it make Propecia ineffective? During my first week of Propecia use, my hair loss completely stopped, but on my third week, i started noticing a mild hair fall. Is it...
Hi Doctor, Thank you for maintaining this great and informative blog and answering all our questions. I was on propecia for 9 years until last year I was prescribed Avodart because propecia was losing its effectiveness. I decided to go off avodart after a year and go back to propecia. The dermatologist told me to give it a year before deciding to...
I have been taking 1mg of propecia every other day for almost 2 years now with excellent results. What are your thoughts on taking 1mg every other day? You’re probably not getting the full benefit of the medication (recommended dosage is 1mg daily), but if you’re seeing excellent results, there’s no reason to change that now. I’d...
Dear Dr Rassman, You’ve said before that Propecia and Rogaine work best where there is still some hair left, not in completely bald areas of the scalp. If that’s the case, can having a hair transplant to a previously bald area actually increase the efficiency of the medicines in that area too ? I think you’re confused. It is...
